BioI created this journal for the purpose of posting one quote every day from the popular late '80s to mid '90s sitcom "Roseanne". Of course, life gets busy, so if I ever skip a day or two, please forgive me in advance. The quotes range from clever one-liners to several lines said by multiple characters within the same scene.
But why Roseanne?
Of all the sitcoms I used to watch, "Roseanne" is the one that has stayed with me the most. Perhaps it's because so much of it reminds me of my own family. Also, in this day and age of reality shows and law- or crime-based dramas, the era of the half-hour situation comedy with a laugh track seems to be almost gone. How does a crew of Hollywood people get together every week and build a half-hour show that's not only funny, but also has characters that audiences like and situations that they can relate to so that they're sure to tune in every week for more? It seems so implausible, and yet "Roseanne" kept it up almost perfectly for almost a decade. How many others have done that? The acting, the situations, and the humor were all so real, with daringly unabated sarcasm and wit that still resounds more than ten years after the finale.
Why one a day?
"Roseanne" still plays on cable and in syndication in some places, and of course all nine seasons are on DVD, but not everyone has time to watch every day. My purpose for posting a quote a day is so that fans of "Roseanne" can still have that small piece of the show and perhaps a little chuckle to go with everything else they have going on. Besides, even if nobody friends this journal I'll still have had the pleasure of doing it for myself.
